This document is produced within the framework of the EU-Africa PerMED project, an EU funded project with grant agreement no.964333 and entitled "Building links between Europe and Africa in personalized medicine". The document presents an Action Plan to facilitate, foster and promote collaboration in the field of Personalised Medicine (PM) between Africa and Europe. It includes PM research activities and supporting activities formulated as recommendations to be implemented at different levels and by different actors, to achieve the objectives set forth by the project: • Foster, facilitate and encourage joint PM activities, projects and programmes between Africa and Europe, • Strengthen bilateral European Union and African Union (EU-AU) science, technology and innovation (STI) relations in the area of health, including PM. The Action Plan is one of the major deliverables of the EU-Africa PerMed action, and it has been prepared based on the findings from the project work, mainly the mapping activities, gap and needs analysis and stakeholder engagement, with discussion with both African and European experts. Main target audience of this Plan are all actors from Africa and Europe positioned to support the uptake and implementation of the presented recommendations: particularly policy makers (STI and health); national, international and global funders, from the public and private sector; the European Union (EU) and Commission (EC); the African Union (AU); the World Health Organisation (WHO); already existing joint actions like the European and Developing Countries Clinical Trials Partnership (EDCTP); industry players; and also, to actors contributing to the development and innovation of PM from academic and clinic.
