Membangun Karakter Melalui Pembelajaran Bahasa Inggris: Pendekatan Holistik untuk Anak Usia Sekolah Dasar

Abstract

Penguasaan bahasa Inggris semakin penting dalam era globalisasi, khususnya bagi anak-anak usia sekolah dasar yang sedang dalam tahap perkembangan kritis. Artikel ini membahas pelaksanaan kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat yang bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kemampuan berbahasa Inggris sekaligus mengembangkan karakter anak melalui pendekatan holistik. Kegiatan ini dilakukan di Rumah Belajar Bermain, melibatkan 20 anak usia sekolah dasar, dengan menerapkan metode pembelajaran yang interaktif, seperti permainan edukatif, diskusi kelompok, dan proyek kreatif. Evaluasi menunjukkan bahwa 85% peserta mengalami peningkatan signifikan dalam keterampilan berbicara dan mendengarkan bahasa Inggris, serta menunjukkan perubahan positif dalam sikap kolaboratif dan saling menghargai. Hasil ini mengindikasikan bahwa pembelajaran bahasa Inggris dapat menjadi sarana efektif dalam membangun karakter positif pada anak. Artikel ini diharapkan memberikan wawasan baru bagi pendidik dan praktisi dalam mengintegrasikan pembelajaran bahasa dengan pendidikan karakter, serta menciptakan lingkungan belajar yang menyenangkan dan inklusif.
