
L’articolo propone una lettura del De Spiritu Sancto di Didimo il Cieco, mettendo in luce alcuni aspetti della pneumatologia ivi delineata: l’impostazione apologetica, l’intonazione biblica, il radicamento trinitario e il concetto di partecipazione (capabilitas), utile per illustrare il rapporto dello Spirito con le creature, mantenendo al tempo stesso la differenza ontologica tra il primo e le seconde. In tal modo il trattato, composto nell’ambito delle controversie pneumatologiche che hanno preceduto il Concilio di Costantinopoli (381), si dimostra una tappa significativa nel cammino di maturazione della pneumatologia nel IV secolo.
The essay proposes a reading of Didymus the Blind’s De Spiritu Sancto, highlighting the following aspects of its pneumatology: the apologetic style, the biblical setting, the Trinitarian dimension, and the concept of participation (capabilitas), useful for explaining the relation between the Spirit and the creatures, whilst maintaining at the same time the ontological difference between them. Thereby the treatise, written during the pneumatological controversies before the Council of Constantinople (381), represents a significant stage in the development in Pneumatology in the 4th century.
