This report summarizes the proceedings of the "Healthcare at the Crossroads: COMPHACRISIS Workshop on Regulation, Innovation, and Market Dynamics" held on September 13, 2024, at the UCD Sutherland School of Law, University College Dublin. The one-day workshop brought together experts in competition law, healthcare policy, economics, and regulatory affairs to examine the complex interplay between healthcare systems, market forces, and regulatory frameworks in the European Union. The event featured two-panel sessions covering: Competition in EU Healthcare Sector: Hospitals and Pharmaceutical Markets Post-pandemic Trades and Trends: AI and Beyond The discussions were wide-ranging, covering topics such as state aid for hospitals, regulatory exclusivities in EU pharmaceutical legislation, the impact of generative AI on healthcare markets, unreasonable trade practices in the context of the global pandemic, and the challenges of balancing innovation with competition in healthcare. The workshop was organized as part of the COMPHACRISIS project, funded by the European Union's Horizon Europe MSCA programme under grant agreement No. 101061575.
