Summary. Mirizzi syndrome is an evolutionary and late complication of gallstones, morphologically having the following characteristics: compression of the common hepatic duct or common bile duct by the gallstone embedded in the cystic duct or infundibulum of the gallbladder, with stricture formation at this level or fistula between the cholecyst and bile ducts. This scientific work presents a detailed analysis of the current literature and documented clinical cases, taking into account the diagnostic and treatment methods used in Mirizzi syndrome. Sources were selected through major medical databases, such as PubMed, Scopus, and Google Scholar, using relevant keywords: „Mirizzi syndrome,” „gallstones,” „biliary obstruction,” and „cholangiography.” Data were extracted and synthesized to provide a complete and up-to-date overview of the surgical management of this condition. Imaging techniques, endoscopic procedures, and surgical options are reviewed, including laparoscopic and open approaches.Key words: Mirizzi syndrome, biliary fistulas, endoscopic lithotripsy, surgical treatment.
