RISIS Datasets – Final report on status and main achievements

Abstract

The RISIS datasets constitute the fundament of RISIS as an infrastructure. They are not only the basis for accessing systematic and robust, quantitative and qualitative information on research and innovation activities and related policies, but also for the construction of RISIS positioning indicators. After five years of development since 2019 (with the start of RISIS2 as a funded project), all datasets are open according to the workplan and have produced significant interest generating 430+ access requests in the RISIS datasets portal. Activities accomplished do by far not only relate to maintenance of the datasets, i.e. update and extension to keep them relevant, but also involved significant deepening activities, i.e. new database modules and contents addressing upcoming research and policy questions, including four dedicated new datasets. Maintenance and deepening have been done following the FAIR principles of scientific data management, with a special attention to the problems of data quality. This report is intended to summarize jointly the status of the datasets at the end of RISIS as a European project, their value added, illustrated by a selection of interesting use cases
