Abstract

Este artigo teve como finalidade refletir sobre como a saúde mental dos jovens está sendo afetada mediante o uso de internet no Brasil. A partir de uma abordagem social e histórica sobre o desenvolvimento juvenil, pretendeu-se refletir criticamente sobre os conceitos do uso intensivo, campo marcado por considerável dissenso quanto às terminologias adotadas, que pode negligenciar os principais processos psicológicos envolvidos, justificando a necessidade de uma investigação mais ampla. A partir dos estudos acerca das implicações do consumismo diante da modernidade líquida vivenciada hoje, provocada pela continuidade temporal e acumulo de informações, elenca-se o neoliberalismo como um dos principais mecanismos de subjetivação presentes na internet, interferindo na vida dos jovens como um todo, com sua hiperconexão e hiperexposição, que resultam na fragilização de resiliência, anseio por uma imagem corporal composta por ideais mercadológicos, evidente individualismo exacerbado motivado por ideais consumistas e governamentalidade empresarial, resultando no desinteresse por causas coletivas, gerando riscos ao futuro cívico democrático.
