Abstract

FIGURE 1. Maximum likelihood (ML) phylogram of Agaricus sect. Xanthodermatei based on ITS1+2 sequences of 42 samples belonging to 28 species of Agaricus sect. Xanthodermatei and six species of Agaricus sect. Chitonioides and Agaricus sect. Bivelares used as outgroups. Bootstrap support values (100 replicates) above 50% are shown and major clades of the section are indicated (Xan I, Xan II, Xan III). The eight Iranian specimens in bold face are distributed in four clades corresponding to the species A. phaeolepidotus, A. iodosmus, and the two sister species A. xanthodermus and A. moelleri.
