Abstract

El Papanicolaou (PAP) es un procedimiento ginecológico rápido y sencillo, que resulta altamente efectivo para identificar de manera temprana lesiones en el cuello uterino, las cuales son los primeros indicios de cáncer cervicouterino; cada día mueren dos mujeres por esta enfermedad. A partir de los 25 años y cada tres años, se recomienda realizarse el Papanicolaou. Nota: este trabajo corresponde a un trabajo de aula de la cátedra de investigación de la Carrera de Obstetricia de la Universidad Central de Ecuador. Se solicitó el consentimiento informado, previa participación de los estudiantes universitarios.
