Authors: Ch'ng, Brendan;

ABRIR x MEPS Open Science and Big-team Science Workshop

Abstract

These are materials presented during the online workshop titled “Open Science and Big-team Science Workshop”, jointly organised by ABRIR and the Malaysia Educational Psychology Society (MEPS) as part of the project Advancing Big-team Reproducible science through Increased Representation (ABRIR): Towards more diverse and inclusive open psychological sciences. The workshop was conducted on 15 August 2024 and was facilitated by Brendan CH'NG with the support of HUE Chi Yin on Zoom. This workshop introduced the concepts of open science and big-team science practices. It included: A brief history about the replication crisis in psychology and questionable research practices. An overview of open science and big-team science principles. A hands-on activity (or hackathon) focused on: Identifying barriers to engaging in open science and big-team science Developing solutions to encourage participation in these practices Sharing ideas for potential research topics for future big-team science projects This record contains: MEPS x ABRIR OS & BTS Workshop - Participants and Responses: an ODS file with three spreadsheets. Also available for viewing and downloading here. The first spreadsheet contains the information on the people who participated in the hackathon or who had only registered to participate ((name, title, nationality, institution/organisation, status, ORCID ID, language, research interests). The second spreadsheet lists the responses provided by participants during the hands-on activity. The third spreadsheet lists ideas for collaborations and projects proposed by hackathon participants. MEPS x ABRIR OS & BTS Workshop (Slides): PDF and PPTX slides (in English) of the presentation used during the event, created by Brendan Ch’ng. The slides also feature the results of two short questionnaires on Open and Big Team Science that participants answered before the event; these results are presented in English. MEPS x ABRIR OS & BTS Workshop Visuals: A ZIP archive containing posters and other visuals related to the event (as PDF and PNG files). A recording of the workshop is also available for viewing on MEPS's YouTube channel.

This event was made possible with the backing from The Open Research Funders Group via the Seed Award Program.
