Abstract

Las habilidades cognitivas (HC) figuran como cualidades cognitivas que permiten a los niños y niñas desarrollar diversos procesos escolares y personales en base a la planificación, organización, regulación y control del comportamiento. Estas habilidades son esenciales para el desarrollo escolar (DE), puesto que facultan a los estudiantes operar la carga de trabajo, establecer prioridades y mantener la atención en tareas complejas. En esta investigación, se establece la relación entre las habilidades cognitivas y el desarrollo escolar en estudiantes del subnivel medio pertenecientes a la Unidad educativa Dr. Benigno Malo. El diseño de la investigación es correlacional, ya que se asimiló la naturaleza de la conexión al estudiar las habilidades cognitivas y el desempeño académico. Fue necesario, determinar su magnitud y dirección para reconocer la existencia de una conexión significativa y estadística entre las variables. Se evidenció una correlación positiva y una asociación directamente proporcional entre variables, pues a mayor desarrollo ejecutivo, mayor desempeño académico, en contraste, menor desarrollo ejecutivo causa un desarrollo escolar bajo.
