Estimating global agricultural effects of geoengineering using volcanic eruptions

Abstract

Estimating global agricultural impacts of geoengineering using volcanic eruptions Authors: J. Proctor, S. Hsiang, J. Burney, M. Burke, W. Schlenker. This folder contains the data and code necessary to replicate Proctor et al. 2018, “Estimating global agricultural impacts of geoengineering using volcanic eruptions.” The code replicates: - figures 1-4 - extended data figures 1-7 - extended data tables 1-3. Code was written in R 3.4.4, Matlab 2017, and Stata SE 2014. Users of these data should cite Proctor et al. (2018). If you find an error or have a question please email Jonathan Proctor at proctor@berkeley.edu. ## Description of folders - **data**: Stores raw and intermediate data -**scripts**: Scripts to process data, train models, and make figures -**figures**: Stores the images that comprise the main figures 1-4 and extended data figures 1-7. -**tables**: Stores extended data tables 1-3 ## Instructions to replicate main figures: We recommend that replicators begin by opening “scripts/Replicate_Paper_Master.R,” which describes and sources the code needed to replicate the analysis. It shows which scripts replicate each figure and table, which order they need to be run in, and where those scripts are located. Remember to change the working directory for scripts that are not R scripts. The working directory for all R scripts should be set to the replication folder. As downloaded, the replication folder contains all intermediate data and trained models necessary to begin replication at any step in the analysis. Running code that occurs early on in the analysis and produces these intermediate data and models will overwrite the original files with identical versions.
