F|Heat - A QGIS Plugin for Municipal Heat Planning

Abstract

Description F|Heat is a modular software solution designed to help small and medium-sized municipalities in North Rhine-Westphalia (Germany) plan a sector-coupled, decarbonised energy system. Initially designed as an official extension (plug-in) for the geoinformation system QGIS, it is used in the context of the legal requirements of the Heat Planning Act (WPG). The aim is to accelerate municipal heat and energy planning by providing an open software solution with transparent and comprehensible principles. This solution enables rapid preliminary planning of energy supply options. These results can then be used for detailed planning and feasibility studies. Documentation Official documentation is available on Read the Docs. The website also contains a detailed description of the software and an example of how to use it. Usage of uploaded files The ZIP file uploaded here corresponds to version v0.1.1 and can be installed directly via the “Install from ZIP” option in the “Extensions” tab within the QGIS application. The active, maintained version is also available.
