This document (D1.3) is the third report of WP1 in the UNLOCK-CEI project, analyzing market gaps between enterprise demand and the current supply of CEI products and services. The gap analysis, based on interviews, prior research, and additional desk research, identifies adoption barriers in the CEI continuum. Key findings include technological and management challenges, especially in handling distributed edge resources alongside cloud resources. Addressing these gaps requires robust edge management platforms and new connectivity solutions. Current efforts by standards bodies, EU policies, and funded projects like MetaOS are tackling some issues, but further attention is needed. The report highlights opportunities for businesses to develop solutions that address these gaps and suggests continued support from European policymakers through legal frameworks, research investments, and support for scaling CEI businesses.
