Abstract

Las bacterias Streptomyces son microorganismos que se encargan de degradar la materia orgánica acumulada en el suelo y transformarla en compuestos asimilables por las plantas. Son bacterias que controlan microorganismos fitopatógenos y participan como promotoras del crecimiento vegetal (PGPR). El objetivo fue evaluar en cepas de Streptomyces la capacidad PGPR y antagonista de hongos fitopatógenos. A 10 cepas se les determinó la actividad de solubilización de fosfatos, producción de sideróforos y capacidad de fijar nitrógeno atmosférico. Se observó que todas fijaron nitrógeno, 5/10 cepas solubilizaron fosfatos y 9/10 produjeron sideróforos. En cuanto al antagonismo, 4/10 cepas inhibieron el crecimiento de Fusarium oxysporum destacando la cepa B153. La cepa B153 mostró más altos porcentajes de inhibición (estadísticamente significativos) contra diversos hongos fitopatógenos respecto a la cepa comercial S. lydicus WYEC108. Streptomyces sp B153 se puede considerar como una cepa con potencial capacidad de promover el crecimiento vegetal y controlar el desarrollo de hongos fitopatógenos.
