Abstract

El bruxismo es un trastorno motor multifactorial que se manifiesta como rechinamiento de los dientes o al apretar la mandíbula, comúnmente al estar el paciente dormido. Se ha relacionado con diversos problemas de salud dental, oral, craneal, dolores miofaciales, etc. En esta revisión sistemática, se explora la relación del bruxismo con los trastornos temporomandibulares (TTM) y la apnea obstructiva del sueño (AOS). Se identificaron 138 artículos en 3 bases de datos (ScienceDirect, PubMed, Scielo), de los cuales fueron seleccionados 6 artículos para la elaboración de esta revisión. Se logró identificar mayor prevalencia de bruxismo en individuos que presentan trastornos temporomandibulares y apnea obstructiva del sueño, al igual que mayor duración e intensidad de síntomas como dolor orofacial y miofacial en pacientes bruxistas.
