Abstract

Cacostola apyraiuba sp. nov. (Fig. 3) Etimologia: Tupi, apyra = Ponta; iuba – amarelo. Alusivo à região apical dos élitros. Tegumento acastanhado. Fronte com pubescência alaranjada entremeada de pubescência branca. Vértice coberto por pubescência predominantemente alaranjada. Escapo com pubescência variegada de branco e alaranjado e anel central castanho. Flagelômeros com a base recoberta por pubescência esbranquiçada e o ápice gradualmente mais acastanhado dos antenômeros III ao XI. Partes laterais do protórax com projeção lateral no nível do terço posterior e uma faixa castanha próximo à orla anterior. Pronoto com pubescência variegada de branco e alaranjado e uma área central onde predomina a pubescência branca. Esternos torácicos com pubescência mesclada de alaranjado e, mais predominantemente, branco. Élitros com pubescência acinzentada, menos no quinto apical que é ocupado por pubescência mesclada de laranja e branco, interrompida por pequenas áreas castanhas; região látero-anteapical com gibosidade aparente. Fêmures com a base revestida por pubescência branca. Urosternitos com pubescência mesclada de branco e, mais predominantemente, alaranjado. Margem apical do urosternito V emarginada. Dimensões, mm, parátipo e holótipo fêmeas, respectivamente: Comprimento total, 11,1-11,5; comprimento do protórax, 1,7-1,7; maior largura do protórax, 2,2-2,3; comprimento do élitro, 8,8-8,8; largura umeral, 2,9-3,1. Material-tipo: Holótipo fêmea, BOLÍVIA, Santa Cruz: Buena Vista (Hotel Flora & Fauna, 4-6 km SSE, 430 m), 5-15.XI.2001, M.C. Thomas & B.K. Dozier col. “ blacklight trap, tropical transition forest” (MNKM). Parátipo fêmea, mesmos dados do holótipo, 26-27.X.2000, R. Morris col. (ACMS). Parátipo macho, BOLIVIA, Santa Cruz: Reserva Natural Potrerillo de Guendá (Snake farm, 17°40.269’S, 63°27.43’W, 400 m), parátipo macho, 16-22.X.2006, Wappes, Nearns & Eya col. (ACMS). Discussão: Pela mancha clara no ápice dos élitros Cacostola apyraiuba assemelha-se a C. sulcipennis Melzer, 1934. Difere, pela pubescência alaranjada na cabeça, no protórax e no ápice dos élitros. Em C. sulcipennis a cabeça, protórax e área apical dos élitros têm pubescência esbranquiçada.
