Abstract

Amaç – Sektörlere yönelik kredi kartı harcamalarında yapılan işlem adedi ve işlem tutarı miktarları üzerinden COVID-19 virüsü öncesinde ve sonrasındaki dönemlerde ekonomik etkileri incelemektir.Tasarım/veri/metodoloji – Kredi kartı harcama tutarları, Bankalararası Kart Merkezi'nin (BKM) resmi internet sitesinden elde edilen veriler kullanılarak derlenmiştir. Bu veriler, farklı dönemlerdeki artış veya azalış oranları ile, söz konusu dönemlerde meydana gelen ekonomik olaylar ve konjektürel hareketler göz önüne alınarak detaylı bir şekilde yorumlanmıştır.Bulgular – Koronavirüsün başlangıcında salgın ve uygulanan yasaklardan etkilenen eğitim/kırtasiye/ofis malzemeleri, havayolları, giyim ve aksesuar, benzin ve yakıt istasyonları, konaklama ve araba kiralama sektörlerinde kredi kartı işlem adedi ve işlem tutarlarında azalmalar gözükürken, hizmet sektörü, elektrik-elektronik eşya ve bilgisayar, sağlık/sağlık ürünleri/kozmetik, market ve alışveriş merkezleri ve çeşitli gıda sektörlerinde ise artışlar belirlenmiştir.Özgünlük/değer – Koronavirüsün tüm dünyayı etkisi altına aldıktan sonra ekonomik hayatı nasıl etkilediğini, hükümetlerin salgından korunmak için aldığı tedbirleri, bu doğrultuda tüketici harcamalarının ve tercihlerinin nasıl değiştiğini ve bunun sonucunda sektörlerin salgına nasıl tepki verdiğini kredi kartı harcamaları ve işlem adetleri üzerinden inceleyen bir çalışmadır.

Purpose –The aim of this study is to examine the economic effects of credit card expenditures for sectors in the periods before and after the COVID-19 virus on the number of transactions and the amount of transactions.Design/data/methodology –Credit card expenditure amounts are compiled using data obtained fromthe official website of the Interbank Card Center (BKM). These data have been interpreted in detail by taking into account the increase or decrease rates in different periods, as well as the economic events and cyclical movements that occurred in these periods.Findings –It examines the findings of credit card expenditures on a secondary basis along with the economic effects caused by the COVID-19 outbreak based on service sectors, education/stationery/office supplies, electrical-electronic goods, computers, airlines, accommodation, health/health products/cosmetics, markets and shopping malls, clothing and accessories, various food, car rental, gas and fuel stations.Originality/value –It is a study that examines where the coronavirus is seen and how it affects economic life after it affects the whole world, the measures taken by governments to protect against the epidemic, how consumer expenditures and preferences change in this direction, and how the sectors react to the epidemic as a result, through credit card expenditures and transaction numbers.
