Oapen-Ch - Auswirkungen Von Open Access Auf Wissenschaftliche Monographien In Der Schweiz. Ein Projekt Des Schweizerischen Nationalfonds

Abstract

Der Schweizerische Nationalfonds (SNF) lancierte das Pilotprojekt OAPEN-CH im Sommer 2014 und führte es zusammen mit Wissenschaftsverlagen, Bibliotheken, Autorinnen und Autoren bis Ende 2017 durch. Ziel war es, Erfahrungen mit dem Publikationsprozess für wissenschaftliche Open-Access-Bücher zu sammeln. Die Pilotstudie sollte den Wandel in der wissenschaftlichen Publikationskultur im Bereich der Bücher begleiten und Anpassungen in der Förderpolitik ermöglichen. Die Ergebnisse des gemeinsamen Lernprozesses liegen nun vor. Sie sind ermutigend, denn sie ergeben für die wissenschaftliche Monographie einen eindeutigen Befund: Eine digitale, über das Internet frei verfügbare Ausgabe erhöht die Auffindbarkeit, die Sichtbarkeit und die Nutzung von Monographien. Open Access wirkt sich nicht negativ auf den Verkauf des gedruckten Buches aus. Für die akademische Gemeinschaft und die Gesellschaft insgesamt sowie für Verleger und Geldgeber ist es von Vorteil, Open Access für Monographien zu ermöglichen und zu unterstützen. Die Resultate aus der Pilotstudie sind in die neue Open-Access-Politik des SNF eingeflossen, die am 1. April 2018 in Kraft getreten ist.
