
Indian nationalism can trace roots to pre-colonial India, but was fully developed during the Indian independence movement which campaigned for independence from British rule. Indian nationalism quickly rose to popularity in India through these united anti-colonial coalitions and movements. The paper studies the process of formation of Indian nationalism during the colonial period, the ideological development, forms of expression and institutionalization of Indian nationalism in the second quarter of the 19th century. - the first half of the 20th century. Thus, this paper divides into 4 main parts: 1. Overview of the topic, 2. Research methodology and source base, 3. Author’s comments on previous studies and 4. Findings of the study.
