Abstract

Als medewerker en geologisch adviseur bij de Werkgroep Archeologie Roeselare (WAR) prospecteert Christ Naert al een kwarteeuw de velden in de omgeving van zijn woning in de Onledemolenstraat in Beveren-Roeselare. Uiteraard was hij dan ook alert bij graafwerken die opgestart werden nabij de Onledebeek in Beveren. Op zaterdagavond 24 september 2011 ontdekte Christ daar 62 scherven waarvan hij vermoedde dat ze behoorden tot een Romeinse amfoor. Voor verdere analyse contacteerde hij Jozef Goderis, voorzitter van V.O.B.o.W.-WAR met de vraag of deze vondst op die wijze kon bevestigd worden.
