Distribuição da mortalidade por suicídio nas capitais da Região Sudeste do Brasil 1996-2015

Abstract

O suicídio é uma das principais causas de morte no mundo, com cerca de 800 mil ocorrências diárias, segundo a Organização Mundial da Saúde (WHO, 2018). Dados apontam o crescimento das taxas de suicídio nas últimas décadas, especialmente em jovens (ROSENBERG et al., 1987; RODRIGUES; WERNECK, 2005; MACHADO; SANTOS, 2015). No Brasil, as taxas padronizadas de suicídio por idade indicam crescimento gradativo em ambos os sexos, de 1980 a 2014 (WHO, 2014). Entre 1979 e 1998, as taxas cresceram 43% entre jovens nas principais capitais brasileiras (SOUZA et al., 2002). Os dados aqui apresentados descrevem a distribuição da mortalidade por suicídio nas capitais da Região Sudeste do Brasil de 1996 a 2015. No intuito de identificar mudanças anuais, utilizaram-se taxas específicas por faixa etária (suavizadas pelo método Loess), e calculadas taxas padronizadas, em homens e mulheres. Foi utilizado o método direto de padronização, tendo a população do Rio de Janeiro de 2015 como referência.
