Biblioterapia: la lectura como fuente de placer y de bienestar

Abstract

El objetivo de este estudio es identificar y analizar los elementos que se asocian a la lectura para conocer cómo los hábitos lectores inciden en la Salud. Para ello se realizó un estudio transversal de tipo muestral mediante una encuesta entre personas que habitualmente leen y, que fue distribuida en línea a través de listas de distribución y redes sociales interesadas en el ámbito de la lectura y la Salud. En la misma, los encuestados tenían que valorar aquellos aspectos que consideran más importantes para ellos respecto a la lectura como pueden ser: tranquilidad, diversión, información y otros. Se cumplimentaron 1.511 encuestas de varios países, especialmente de España y países de Latinoamérica. Los resultados observados ponen de manifiesto que además de valorar la importancia de la lectura en relación con las funciones tradicionales como son las actividades formativas e informativas, los encuestados también utilizan y valoran la capacidad que tienen la lectura en relación con aspectos preventivos y saludables como son: paliar la soledad, evitar pensamientos negativos y gestionar mejor las emociones.
