Analysis code for paper: Energy transport, polar amplification, and ITCZ shifts in the GeoMIP G1 ensemble

Abstract

Analysis and plotting code for paper by R.D. Russotto and T.P. Ackerman in Atmos. Chem. Phys. special issue on the Geoengineering Model Intercomparison Project. DOI for paper: 10.5194/acp-2017-823 Python code was written by Rick Russotto. The APRP.py and moistEBM.py modules were based in part on Matlab scripts provided by Yen-Ting Hwang. If you use any of this code, please acknowledge where it came from. Python scripts were run using Python 2.7.9. Versions of packages used: -Matplotlib 1.5.1 -NumPy 1.8.2 -NetCDF4 1.1.0 Which scripts made which plots: Figures 1, 2, 3, 4a: v2_meridionalEnergyTransport.py Figure 4b: itczShiftFigureWithCSIRO.py Figures 5, 6, 7, 8: runEBM.py Table 1: temperatureGlobalMean.py findCSIRO_reduction.py (for percentage solar constant reduction in CSIRO model, not previously published) Table A1: errorAnalysisEnergyTransport.py Table B1: EBM_tuneAB.py Other scripts and modules that the above scripts depend on: APRP.py correctCESM_rlut.py find_rlut_correction.py geomipFunctions.py moistEBM.py scriptUsingAPRPonGeoMIP.py These scripts are also available at the URL: https://atmos.washington.edu/articles/GeoMIP_EnergyTransport_PolarAmplification_ITCZ/ The APRP.py module can also be found at https://github.com/rdrussotto/pyAPRP, with further documentation.
