Abstract

ABSTRACT Currently, the study of the emotional state has become fundamental in the educational field. Various researchers have highlighted the importance of cultivating these social-emotional skills to improve student development. With this approach, the present study aimed to examine the influence of empathy and emotional state on the development of communicative competencies in high school students in Villa El Salvador during the year 2024. The approach adopted was basic in nature, using methods quantitative and a non-experimental design, and was situated at a causal correlational level with a hypothetical-deductive approach. Regarding data collection, surveys were used that included two questionnaires validated by experts, using Cronbach's Alpha coefficient. The results obtained through the ordinal logistic regression model revealed significant values, with Wald > 58.225 and Nagelkerke = 0.577, indicating a substantial influence of empathy and emotional state on the students' communicative competencies. These results support the importance of strengthening both empathy and emotional state in both teachers and students, in order to improve their communication skills. In conclusion, this study highlights the relevance of empathy and emotional state in the development of communication skills in high school students in Villa El Salvador during the year 2024.
