
Genus Paraidioscopus Maldonado-Capriles Paraidioscopus Maldonado-Capriles 1964: 98. Type species: Idioscopus tagalicus Baker, by original designation. Dignosis. Very similar to Idioscopus. Aedeagal shaft thin often sinuate with two slender long processes directed basally. Breed on species of the plant genus Semecarpus, family Anacardiaceae. Remarks. Viraktamath & Yeshwanth (2022) have adequately diagnosed the genus and treated the three included species from the subcontinent. The three species included are Paraidioscopus andamanicus Viraktamath & Yeshwanth (Figs 38A–E, from Diglipur, Andaman Islands), P. harrisi Viraktamath (Figs 38F–J, from Karnataka, breeding on Semecarpus anacardium L.) and P. unimacultus (Melichar) (Figs 38K–N, from Sri Lanka, breeding on Semecarpus coriaceus Thwaites). They also illustrated the habitus and male and female genitalia of these species and included a key to four included species of the genus.
