The most recent governing documents of the Cuban state consider it necessary to have a National Information System that allows decision-making based on reliable, timely and pertinent information, to achieve sustainable development. There are numerous specific information systems, but their use in development planning and budgets is affected by the lack of a system that allows their use in an integrated way, appropriate to these objectives. InfoGEO is presented as a platform to provide the interoperability of the different specific information systems and achieve the level of computerization that is required for the effective use of environmental information. The project will: • Have spatial information on the environment, as a cardinal tool for decision-making in the management of natural resources • Keep updated the indicators of the Environmental Scope, both those specific to each specialty, and those available in the Government Information System (SIGOB). • Programmatic monitoring of projects and programs related to the environment, science, technology and innovation. • Improve the systematic assessment of the national and global environment. • Integrate the environmental information derived from the three Rio conventions and other multilateral environmental agreements and have it available in the field of I+D+i; thus contributing to the improvement of the Cuban Economic Modelfacilitating the inclusion of the Rio objectives in the early stages of planning and budgeting.
