Type Species: Oryzomys instans Thomas 1895 Species and subspecies: 1 species: Species Chilomys instans (Thomas 1895) Discussion: Thomasomyini. Arranged with oryzomyines (Reig, 1984) or suggested as more closely related to thomasomyines (Musser and Carleton, 1993); molecular analyses (cytochrome b) support the latter tribal affinity, in a clade composed of (Rhipidomys (Chilomys Thomasomys )) (D’Elía et al., 2003; Smith and Patton, 1999). Aspects of morphology reported by Carleton (1973) and Voss and Linzey (1981).
