Save yourself! FAIR-ify your digital research in 45 minutes!

Abstract

Workshop delivered at NWO Life 2024 conference, Egmond aan Zee, May 23, 2024. Abstract: You probably produce (new or derived) data in your research, and in the process, you most likely use and/or produce some kind of software (code or program). When it comes to research data and software there are oh so many ways to get stuck, mess something up or get lost entirely in your or someone else's creations. In the race to publish our papers, we often overlook important aspects that make the data or software more sustainable and reusable. In this workshop, the Netherlands eScience Center and DANS join forces to show you that it is not so complicated and always for your benefit to make your research data and software FAIR (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable and Reusable) and to give you some practical tools and tips to get going. You will notice that improving your workflow with these simple steps will help you stay more relaxed and save yourself a lot of work and time while doing even better science and getting the credit for it! See related works for the two breakout presentations mentioned within the presentation. Note: The slide deck is distributed the same across two file formats: .pptx and .pdf. The .pptx format is the most (web) accessible, while the .pdf serves as a stable visual version with accessible features. In case of format issues, the .pdf file would be considered the reference file - this reference file is denoted by "1-" at the beginning of the file name.
