Die Minimaldatensatz-Empfehlung ist eine Online-Handreichung, welche die wichtigsten Datenfelder für die Online-Publikation von Objektinformationen aus Museen und Sammlungen benennt. "Minimaldatensatz" steht dabei fach- und museumsartübergreifend für eine kleinstmögliche Schnittmenge wichtiger Datenfelder. Darauf kann eine Tiefenerschließung aufbauen, wenn dies gewünscht ist. Die Minimaldatensatz-Empfehlung ist ein Anwendungsprofil des LIDO-Datenschemas. Zudem ist die Empfehlung mit dem Europeana Data Model kompatibel. Die Handreichung legt den Fokus auf kontrollierte Vokabulare und die Einhaltung der FAIR- und CARE-Prinzipien. Die Minimaldatensatz-Empfehlung soll kleineren und größeren Museen und Sammlungen den Weg zur Online-Veröffentlichung ihrer Daten ebnen und relevante Standards in leicht verständlicher, niedrigschwelliger Form vermitteln. Ziel ist es, das Bewusstsein für Datenqualität in den Kulturerbeeinrichtungen zu schärfen und sie bei der Online-Publikation zu unterstützen. Die Empfehlung ist für eine praxisnahe Anwendung im Museumsalltag gedacht. Durch die Erläuterung der Datenfelder in allgemeinverständlicher Sprache, Erfassungshinweise und die Einbindung von Datenfeldbezeichnungen aus einer Vielzahl an Datenbanken soll der Einstieg erleichtert werden. Die AG Minimaldatensatz wurde 2022 von den Fachstellen Museum und Mediathek Fotografie/Ton der Deutschen Digitalen Bibliothek (DDB) und der AG Digitalisierung der Konferenz der Museumsberatungsstellen in den Ländern (KMBL) sowie digiS Berlin initiiert. Mitglieder der AG sind Mitarbeitende bzw. Vertreter*innen des Instituts für Museumsforschung, der Fachgruppe Dokumentation im Deutschen Museumsbund (DMB), der Koordinierungsstelle für wissenschaftliche Universitätssammlungen in Deutschland, der digiCULT-Verbund eG, von museum-digital Deutschland e. V., NFDI4Culture, NFDI4Memory, NFDI4Objects, des Museums für Naturkunde Berlin und des Übersee-Museums Bremen.

The Minimum Record Recommendation is an online manual that specifies the most important data fields for the online publication of object information from museums and collections. “Minimum Record” stands for the smallest possible intersection of important data fields across disciplines and museum types. This list of data fields can be the basis for more in-depth cataloguing. The Minimum Record Recommendation is an application profile of the LIDO data schema. The recommendation is also compatible with the Europeana Data Model. The guideline focuses on controlled vocabularies and compliance with the FAIR and CARE principles. The Minimum Record Recommendation intends to pave the way for smaller and larger museums and collections to publish their data online. It aims to introduce relevant standards in an easily understandable form. The aim is to raise awareness of data quality in cultural heritage institutions and to support them with online publication. The recommendation is intended for practical application in everyday museum work. The explanation of the data fields in generally understandable language, instructions for data entry and data field names from a large number of databases aim to make the recommendation accessbile. The Minimum Record Recommendation Working Groups was initiated in 2022 by the Museum Desk and Image / Sound Library Desk of the German Digital Library (DDB), the Digitization Working Group of the Conference of Museum Advisory Services in the Federal States (KMBL) and digiS Berlin. Members of the working group are employees and representatives of the Institute for Museum Research, the Documentation Section of the German Museums Association (DMB), the Coordination Office for Scientific University Collections in Germany, digiCULT-Verbund eG, museum-digital Deutschland e.
