
With the emergence of advanced artificial intelligence technologies, the use of ChatGPT (Generative Pre-trained Transformer) has gained significant attention in the scientific writing community. ChatGPT is a machine learning algorithm that has the capability to generate text that resembles human writing. This article provides a comprehensive review of the advantages, threats, and mitigation strategies of applying ChatGPT to scientific writing. While ChatGPT presents a range of benefits for scientific writing, it also poses potential threats to the integrity and accuracy of scientific content. To address this issue, a study was conducted to test whether current AI detectors are able to reliably detect the use of ChatGPT in academic writing.
