Abstract

[Abstract] This educational intervention study aims to present the basic guidelines for the comprehensive care of a patient who develops terminal Kennedy ulcers from the perspective of problem-based learning. To this end, a figurative clinical case was proposed in a theoretical-practical manner, in which nursing care based on evidence is adapted and implemented, according to current literature. The NANDA, NIC, NOC classifications and the AREA and DREOM models were used. As results, the simulated case is presented; as well as, what intervention the patient needs at all times, depending on her own clinical evolution, and always guaranteeing the best quality of life (pain management, skin and wound care, addressing bad odor and exudate level). In addition, an approach focused on counseling and education at the end of life was vitally important.
