Abstract

Introdução: Hoje em dia a cirurgia da Articulação Temporomandibular (ATM) é amplo conhecimento e varia de procedimentos simples como a artrocentese a procedimentos mais complexos como reposicionamentos discais e próteses totais da articulação. O maior desafio das cirurgias na ATM é a preservação do nervo facial, para evitar transtornos temporários como parestesias e hipostesias e definitivos como a parasilia facial. Isso requer o pleno conhecimento anatômico e habilidade na manipulação dos tecidos. objetivo: É elucidar um caso clínico de um paciente com deslocamento anterior dos discos articulares sem redução, submetido a um procedimento cirúrgico com o auxílio do monitoramento do nervo facial. Relato de Caso: Paciente com 42 anos, gênero feminino apresentou fortes dores de cabeça e limitação de abertura bucal, sendo avaliada e tratada anteriormente por inúmeros profissionais, sem sucesso. O tratamento cirúrgico foi proposto para reposicionar os discos articulares com a monitorização do nervo facial. Conclusão: Pacientes submetidos ao monitoramento neural apresentam excelentes resultados pós operatórios, com a máxima preservação das estruturas nervosas e o monitoramento neural apresentam excelentes resultados pós operatórios, com a máxima preservação das estruturas nervosas.
