Konzepte von Behinderung als latentes Konstrukt. Ein Fragebogen für die Lehrer*innenausbildung

Abstract

In special education there are different approaches as to what is meant by the term or construct of disability. The questionnaire “Concepts of Disability” [CoD] was developed from four common models (individual-medical, social, cultural, systemic). Version 0.3 of this questionnaire will be evaluated in this paper for its psychometric characteristics and for the influence that the discussion of disability in teaching coursin higher education has on the concepts of disability. In the summer of 2022 and winter of 2022/23, a total of 866 students of special education and general teacher education classes from German-speaking universities were examined with an online survey. The results of a confirmatory factor analysis indicate that the measurement model with four concepts of disability fits the data best. the psychometric properties were acceptable with values between α = .68 and .88. In particular, self-assessment of whether disability was a topic of the classes had an impact on the four concepts (rInd = -.20, rSoz = .42, rSys = .38, rKul = .35). The need for a change from an individual-medical to a social concept is discussed in the paper. In addition, the development of special education in Germany is discussed in relation to the concepts of disability.
