Die Rolle von Archiven aus informationsethischer Sicht

Abstract

Ethische Fragen werden in der Archivwissenschaft nur wenig beachtet. Führt man sich aber vor Augen, dass Archive zu den bedeutendsten Verwaltern von Information in der modernen Informationsgesellschaft gehören, wird schnell deutlich, dass damit auch eine erhebliche Verantwortung in Bezug auf den Umgang mit Information einhergeht und dass sich daran wiederum ethische Fragen anschliessen. Ziel dieser Arbeit ist es, die Aufgaben von Archiven aus einer informationsethischen Perspektive zu unter-suchen. Dazu werden im ersten, theoretischen Teil die informationsethischen Grundlagen erarbeitet, was in die Formulierung von allgemeinen Prinzipien des nachhaltigen Umgangs mit Information mündet. Der zweite Teil widmet sich der Anwendung dieser Prinzipien auf den Bereich der Archive. Dabei wer-den die archivspezifischen Formen des Umgangs mit Information in ihrer informationsethischen Dimension beleuchtet. Daraus ergeben sich konkrete Forderungen an die Ausübung der archivischen Tätigkeiten, die mitunter auch in einer Berufsethik für Archivar:innen zu berücksichtigen sind. Abschliessend wird die Rolle von Archiven in der Auseinandersetzung mit anderen Akteuren der Informationsgesellschaft behandelt, die nicht zuletzt in der Beteiligung an informationsethischen Diskursen besteht.
