Abstract

L a enfermedad pulmonar obstructiva crónica (EPOC), es un síndrome que agrupa una serie de entidades cuya característica común es la limitación crónica al flujo aéreo (LCFA), objetivada mediante exploración funcional (espirometría) a través de un patrón obstructivo, definido por la di sminución del FEVl y de la relación FEV l/FVC%. En pacientes con patología respiratoria crónica, la inflamación aguda broncopulmonar de causa infecciosa puede precipitar una exacerbación del proceso neumológico, quepuede llevar a un deterioro inmediato, clínico y de la función pulmonar, a veces de graves consecuencias.
