Verdades incómodas de la salud pública global

Abstract

El libro “Verdades Incómodas de la Salud Pública Global”, como el David y Goliat de Gadwell, relata también algunos retos descomunales que enfrenta la salud pública en un contexto globalizado. Es una combinación de elaboración teórica y conceptual sobre esas verdades incómodas -que han cobrado más relevancia en el contexto de la pandemia- complementada con historias de la intimidad de decisiones difíciles de política pública en salud que se tomaron en Colombia entre 2011 y 2018. El libro permite entender la interacción entre el poder global y local y muestra cómo incidir en los escenarios internacionales para facilitar el debate y las decisiones locales y viceversa. Estas historias están etiquetadas en el libro como “casos novelados”. El libro presenta cinco verdades incómodas de la salud pública global que inciden y determinan gran parte de los problemas a los que se enfrentan los decisores, los activistas o los académicos que trabajan en este medio y está organizado en capítulos que corresponden a cada verdad incómoda.
