Estilos de vida en pacientes con diagnóstico de Diabetes Mellitus

Abstract

La Diabetes Mellitus (DM) es un conjunto de trastornos metabólicos, cuya característica común son las concentraciones elevadas de glucosa en sangre - (persistente o crónica). El manejo del estilo de vida es un pilar fundamental para el cuidado de la diabetes e incluye; la dieta, la actividad física, el no consumo de tabaco y alcohol, conocimiento sobre la enfermedad, atención psicosocial y adherencia al tratamiento terapéutico; para ello el individuo debe adoptar conductas saludables que comprometan de manera directa a mejorar su salud; una conducta no saludable puede tener secuelas negativas e incluso comprometer seriamente la vida del individuo. La presente investigación fue realizada en el “Club de Diabéticos” de un Hospital de la provincia de El Oro. El objetivo fue analizar el estilo de vida de los pacientes con Diabetes mellitus de tipo II. Corresponde a un estudio de tipo descriptivo, enfoque cuantitativo y de corte transversal; la técnica utilizada fue la encuesta IMEVID, empleada para medir estilos de vida en pacientes diabéticos. La muestra fue de 50 pacientes. Se determinó, que el sexo del grupo de estudio es el masculino, con un rango de edad mayor a 65 años, el nivel de instrucción es primaria, la ocupación, en su mayoría son jubilados y se dedican a actividades del hogar. Además, el 62 % tiene un estilo de vida muy saludable, el 36 %; un estilo de vida saludable y el 2 % un estilo de vida poco saludable.
