Abstract

11.6 Scleria mitis P. J. Bergius, Kongl. Vetensk. Acad. Handl. 26: 145. 1765. (Fig. 7 J) Ervas monoicas, perenes, isoladas, ca. 3 m alt., rizoma não visto. Bainhas 13,3-19,9 cm compr., cartáceas, aladas, castanhas com alas esverdeadas; lígulas ausentes; contralígulas ca. 2-5 cm compr., longo-lanceoladas; apêndices membranáceos ausentes; lâminas foliares 47,8-63,3 x 1,8-2,2 cm, lineares, papiráceas, margens escabrosas, ápices pseudopremorsos. Escapos ca. 75 x 0,3- 0,7 cm, glabrescentes, ângulos inermes a incospicuamente escabrosos. Bráctea involucral 9-13,1 x 0,5-1 cm, foliácea. Inflorescências paniculiformes. Espiguetas estaminadas 2,3-2,5 x 1,2-1,5 mm, elipsoides, pediceladas a subsésseis, flores 13-15; glumas 1,4-2,2 x 0,5-2 mm, espiraladas, ovais a lineares, papiráceas ou membranáceas, face abaxial glabra, castanha com linhas rubras, carenas não evidentes ou esverdeadas e escabrosas, margens cilioladas a glabras, ápice mucronado ou agudo; estames 3 por flor. Espiguetas subandróginas 3-3,2 x 1,6-1,8 mm, elipsoides, sésseis; glumas 1,4-3 x 1-3 mm, subdísticas, suborbiculares a ovais, papiráceas, face abaxial glabra, castanhas com linhas rubras, carenas esverdeadas e escabrosas ou não evidentes, margens cilioladas, ápice mucronado ou agudo. Cúpulas persistentes no fruto, encobrindo os hipogínios, margem conspicuamente ciliada, tricomas flavos ou rubros. Hipogínios trilobados, lobos semicirculares. Núculas 2,5-2,9 x 1,8-2,5 mm, globosas, superfície lisa e glabra, alvas a castanho-amareladas, base não porada. Estilopódio presente, persistente, cônico, enegrecido. Ocorre na América Central e América do Sul (WCSP 2018). No Brasil ocorre em todas as regiões, só não há registros para os estados de Santa Catarina e Rio Grande do Sul (Flora do Brasil 2020 em construção, 2020). Nos campos de natureza de Cametá a espécie é encontrada em margens de estradas, em solo arenoso-argiloso. Scleria mitis destaca-se pelas bainhas aladas, contralígulas ca. 2-5 cm compr., longo-lanceoladas, lâminas foliares de ápice pseudopremorso, cúpula persistente no fruto e encobrindo o hipogínio, de margem conspicuamente ciliada, com tricomas flavos ou rubros, núcula globosa, lisa e glabra, e estilopódio presente. Scleria mitis é semelhante a S. microcarpa (ver comentário de S. microcarpa).
