Datasets, R scripts, R functions, R objects of trial case study data for paper on data integration

Abstract

This is a collection of the materials including the original source data for the integration paper called "Multiscalar Integration of Dense and Sparse Spatial Data: an Archaeological Case Study with Magnetometry and Geochemistry" accepted for publication in Surveys in Geophysics journal in 2024 paper DOI: https://doi.org/10.1007/s10712-024-09834-y readable version of paper: https://rdcu.be/dICQu the collection includes folders: folder "data_original" with original datasets of geophysical magnetometer data ("gph_original.dat"), geochemical pXRF data ("gchm_original.csv"), coordinates of geophysical research area corners ("gph_corners.csv") and the shapefile of the enclosure ("enclosure.shp") folder "Figures" which contains the figures generated in R session during the data analysis and other figures used in paper as well folder "functions", which are ready to be read into R session; the functions are a part of the Github.com repository "gedaw" which can be also found under DOI: https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.7297055 folder "GIS_objects" which contains GIS objects created during R session according to the scripts and stored here to be used in GIS programs and applications folder "R_objects" which contains majority of the R objects created during R session according to the scripts; this folder contains the objects which are time consuming to create and therfore their creation can be skipped and these objects can be uploaded into R session directly from this folder the collection also includes scripts: scripts are used during R session and represent the workflow of the integration method presented in the paper script 1 focuses on pre-processing, can be skipped, as the objects created in pre-processing can be directly uploaded from the folder R_objects script 2 contains simple version of the script, which is shortened only to needed minimum and is to be used for direct and fast getting knowledge of how the method works script 3 contains all and thorough method workflow with all the computations and operations, its purpose is to serve as detailed and commented insight into how the method works script 4 contains scripts for all the figures used in the paper Authors affiliations: Jan Horák1, Richard Hewitt2, Julien Thiesson3, Roman Křivánek4, Alžběta Danielisová4, Martin Janovský5 1 – Department of Archaeology, Faculty of Philosophy, University of Hradec Králové, Rokitanského 62, 50003 Hradec Králové, Czechia 2 – Institute of Economy, Geography and Demography, Centre for Human and Social Sciences, National Research Council (CSIC), C/ de Albasanz, 26, 28037 Madrid, Spain 3 – Sorbonne Université, UMR 7619 METIS - case courrier 105 - 4 place Jussieu - 75252 Paris Cedex 05 – France 4 – Institute of Archaeology of Czech Academy of Sciences, Letenská 123, 118 01 Prague, Czechia 5 – Department of Archaeology, Faculty of Arts, Charles University, nám. The authors would like to acknowledge networking support by the COST Action SAGA: The Soil Science & Archaeo-Geophysics Alliance - CA17131 (www.saga-cost.eu), supported by COST (European Cooperation in Science and Technology www.cost.eu). The work was also supported by STSM Grants from COST Action SAGA (grantees: Jan Horák, Martin Janovský, Richard Hewitt). Jan Horák and Martin Janovský were also supported by project "Geochemical insight into non-destructive archaeological research" (LTC19016) of subprogram INTER‐COST (LTC19) of program INTEREXCELLENCE by Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport of the Czech Republic. Alžběta Danielisová was supported by the Czech Science Foundation [Project: Mobility of materials and life cycles of artefacts: archaeometry of metals and glass of the La Tène and early Roman period; project number: 18-20096S]. Richard Hewitt gratefully acknowledges a Ramón y Cajal research fellowship award from the State Research Agency (AEI) of the Spanish Ministry of Science and Innovation (MCIN) 10.13039/501100011033 through the “ESF Investing in your future” funding framework.
