Abstract

2020 und 2022 wurde bei Prospektionsgängen auf dem Zugerberg (ZG) ein aussergewöhnliches Ensemble von 25 antiken Münzen entdeckt: Neben 13 in der Schweiz bisher einzigartigen keltischen Silber-Obolen aus Noricum sind dies neun römische Silber- und drei Bronzemünzen, darunter weitere bemerkenswerte Stücke, so etwa eine sehr seltene Denar-Imitation. Die jüngste Münze datiert den frühestmöglichen Niederlegungszeitpunkt um 16/10 v. Chr. Da bisher ohne Parallele in der Schweiz, wirft das Ensemble eine Reihe von Fragen auf: Woher stammen die Münzen? Warum wurden sie auf dem Zugerberg niedergelegt und von wem? Le trésor d’EielenwaldDécouvert en 2020 et 2022 lors de prospections sur le Zugerberg (ZG), ce petit trésor se compose de 13 monnaies celtiques frappées dans le royaume de Norique (une partie de l'Autriche actuelle) et de 12 monnaies romaines, dont une imitation du Danube inférieur. Il a été enfoui à un emplacement difficile d’accès au cours de la 2e ou de la 1ère décennie avant notre ère. L'ensemble des monnaies ne représente qu’une somme d’argent assez faible, il est probable qu’elles appartenaient à un voyageur au long cours, par exemple un marchand, plutôt qu’à un soldat. Cet ensemble a-t-il été caché là, ou déposé en l’honneur d’une divinité? Comme aucune trace archéologique n’a été mise en évidence dans les environs, cette question doit rester ouverte pour le moment. È stato deposto in un luogo di difficile accesso nel secondo o nell’ultimo decennio a.C. L’insieme rappresenta una somma di denaro modesta, ma è probabile che fosse di proprietà di una persona benestante, forse un commerciante a lungo raggio, e non di un soldato romano. Al momento, a causa della mancanza di reperti o tracce archeologiche nei pressi del ritrovamento, non è possibile stabilire se la somma sia semplicemente stata nascosta o se si tratti di un’offerta votiva.
