Description: This dataset contains a 27-year sea level and wave hindcast (1994-2020) over the Northern Adriatic Sea generated using the unstructured hydrodynamic model SHYFEM (https://github.com/SHYFEM-model/shyfem) and the spectral wave model WAVEWATCH III (https://polar.ncep.noaa.gov/waves/wavewatch). The numerical simulations were forced by ERA5 meteorological (mean sea level pressure and climate-corrected wind) fields (Benetazzo et al., 2022; https://doi.org/10.3390/w14101590). Spatial coverage and resolution: 12.2-14.0 latitude; 42.65-45.8 longitude; spatial resolution of 0.025 degrees. Temporal coverage and resolution: From 1 January 1994 to 31 December 2020 on an hourly basis. Variables: water_level, significant_wave_height, peak_wave_direction, peak_wave_frequency, wave_mean_period, wave_from_direction. Fundings: The creation of this dataset was supported by the Autorità di Bacino Distrettuale del Fiume Po in the framework of the project “Approfondimento tecnico-scientifico sui quadri conoscitivi in ambito costiero” and partially funded by the Research Programme Venezia2021, coordinated by CORILA, with the contribution of the Provveditorato for the Public Works of Veneto, Trentino Alto Adige and Friuli Venezia Giulia. Disclaimer: Regardless of whether the data is quality-controlled or not, the authors do not accept any responsibility for the correctness and/or appropriate interpretation of the data. The correct and appropriate interpretation of the data must follow scientific rules and is always the exclusive responsibility of the users.
