Abstract

Con el fin de determinar la presencia de parásitos en el caracol comestible (Pomacea flagellata), se tomaron muestras de dicha especie en seis cuerpos de aguas nacionales en un periodo que comprende de julio 2010 a marzo de 2019. Se anotaron datos de la biomasa de dicho caracol y mediante técnicas de disección se realizaron diagnósticos parasitológicos. Según los hallazgos se puede afirmar que en el embalse Cerrón Grande se encontró el mayor peso total (incluye concha): 27±4.5 gramos y mayor peso de material comestible (sin concha): 11.3±1.4 gramos. El mayor rendimiento de material comestible correspondió a los estanques acuícolas de Nueva Concepción: 50.23 ± 1.9 %. En los diagnósticos parasitológicos no se encontraron metazoarios, pero se identificaron los protozoarios siguientes: quistes de las amibas de vida libre de Endolimax nana, Iodomoeba butschlii, Chilomastix mesnili y Entamoeba coli. El porcentaje de dichos protozoarios encontrados en los caracoles fue variable: Endolimax nana con 30.00%, Iodamoeba butschlii con 25.83%, Chilomastix mesnili con 17.50%, Entamoeba coli con 4.17% y sin ninguna especie 22.50%. La conclusión principal fue la siguiente: se confirmó la presencia de quistes de cuatro especies de amibas de vida libre en el caracol comestible (Pomacea flagellata) en cuerpos de agua de El Salvador.
