Abstract

Among 40 species from the genus Hoplia that occur in Europe, the majority of them are thermophilic, which results in their decreasing numbers towards the north-eastern direction. Therefore, the genus Hoplia is represented from Belarus by 6 species (Aleksandrowicz & al. 2023), while from Lithuania by 3 (Tamutis & al. 2011). The presence of Eastern European elements is increasing in this part of Europe, which contributes to half of the recorded species in both countries.The materials herein presented complement the knowledge on the distribution of the species from the genus Hoplia in Belarus and Lithuania. They also indicate a strong association of Eastern European species with meadow communities developed in river valleys on dry and sandy soils. Noteworthy is Hoplia golovjankoi JACOBS., which was described from Trypillia near Kyiv. Currently, it has been recorded only from Northeastern Ukraine and Southeastern Belarus. The analysed material confirm its presence in the middle course of the Dnieper as well as along its tributaries in this section. The locality of Hoplia zaitzevi JAKOBS. at the Curonian Spit is the first record of this species in Lithuania.
