Abstract

Advance for a Needed Expansion of the Protected Heritage Site of Lourdes Macají, Riobamba, Ecuador. We present an advance of a research project of the National University of Chimborazo on the request for the extension of the urban archaeological heritage site of Lourdes Macají at Riobamba, Ecuador, for which we will use a methodology based on a GIS, drones, and surface archaeological survey. The lack of protection of this site makes us fear for its definitive destruction, in addition to the unorthodox interventions carried out so far. It is proposed not to allow any more invasive works in the field and to extend the protection polygon, given the abundance of archaeological materials detected in a first visual inspection.
