Características e vantagens do uso de materiais compósitos em máquinas e ferramentas

Abstract

Esta resenha discute sobre o design e aplicação de materiais compósitos em máquinas-ferramenta. Alguns elementos de máquinas, estruturas de ferramentas e componentes exemplares são apresentados, e são discutidos os potenciais técnicos, requisitos e desafios. Os protótipos apresentados e os produtos industriais mostram que novos graus de liberdade no design e layout de componentes de máquinas podem ser explorados, especialmente quando combinações de materiais são implementadas.
