Fig. 4.—Anterior aspect of the left humeri of two Cryptotis nigrescens from Costa Rica illustrating the geographic difference in size between individuals from Monteverde, the northernmost locality for the species (A: KU 143377; length = 7.20 mm), and 5.1 km SW of San Vito, near the Panamanian border (B: KU 158568; 7.93 mm).
