Distribution in Syria: Jordan River drainage and Orontes River drainage.—Distribution in River Basin: 3-Desert, 4-Orontes, 5-Barada & Awaj, 7-Al-Yarmouk.—General distribution: Middle East: Jordan River (Israel, Jordan, Syria).—Distribution in Ecoregion: 437-Orontes, 438- Jordan River, 440-Arabian Interior.—Habitat: This species occurs in large to medium-sized warm streams and rivers with moderate currents. It also inhabits reservoirs and lakes. Freshwater. Economic importance. Locally commercially important. Conservation.
