GENUS CLATHRINA GRAY, 1867 Diagnosis: Clathrinidae in which the choanoderm is flat or rarely raised up into conuli by the apical rays of the tetractines, but never forms true folds, at least when the sponge is in the extended state. The cormus comprises anastomosed tubes. Regular, equiangular and equiradiate triactines and/or tetractines, to which diactines, tripods or tetrapods may be added. Type-Species: Clathrina clathrus (Schmidt, 1864).
