
29. Lispe cana (Walker) Anthomyia cana Walker, 1849: 929. Holotype male, “New Holland” (= Australia), in BMNH (seen). Lispe cana; Pont, 1989: 693; Shinonaga et al., 1991: 332. Diagnosis. Body covered with a silvery-grey pollen; frons strongly silvery in male and golden in female, postpedicel very short; vibrissa vestigial in male; arista short, enlarged at base; palpus very broad at apex, spoon-shaped and with silver/golden pollen; 3 pairs of postsutural dorsocentrals, sometimes with an extra short seta in female between 1st and 2nd dorsocentrals; legs silvery-grey, femoro-tibial joints and tarsi reddish-brown; male with hind tarsomere 1 enlarged; abdomen strongly silvery with no brown marks or with a median spot and two round lateral spots on tergite 5 when viewed from above; tergite 5 with 4 pairs of lateral discal setae and 6–7 pairs of apicals. The species was keyed and redescribed by Malloch (1923b). Distribution.
